Punjabiyaan Da Teshion !

One thing that I have always admired about Punjabis is their sense of humor.
No matter how much good or bad times they are going through, they always have a smile to share or a joke to crack.
Being in Punjabi heartland these days, I came across the following couplets in an Auto If you can understand it, I am sure you would know why when it come to Punjus, they love to laugh it off :)

Tu Tur gi ni England Kude
Etthe yaara de wajj ge band kude

Tu sochya c yaar tabahh ho gaye
Etthe Yaara de do viah ho gaye

Tu sochya c ae gallan majaak ne
Etthe yaara de 4 jawaak ne

Tinku, Chinku Minku te chhote da naa Zinki ae
Sunya teri v kudi da naa Pinky ae

Chal humsafar na sahi Kudam-Kudmani ban javange
Teri Pinki naal apna Zinki Viahwange

PS : I am not translating it …..It takes the charm away from the original lines. Catch hold of your Punju friend and ask him to explain it. I am sure you would get a heart full laugh and a big treat from him :)
BTW , I really liked this name Zinki . I am seriously considering naming someone from Sethi Sahib’s future generations as Zinki. For sure, it sounds more hep and present-day than Shoki, Bunty, Happy or Monty :)

CORRIGENDUM: Keeping in mind , the populist sentiments, given below is my hopless attempt at English Translation of the punjabi couplets above. Hope you are able to enjoy it.

You found a rich guy and left for England,
I was left alone beaten like a torn drum in a band.

You thought I would for sure end my life,
But instead, I found myself wedded to two wives.

You thought that this word love is a joke,
But instead, I produced 4 kids with my master strokes.

Tinku , Chinku, Minku and the youngest one is named Zinki,
I also hear even your daughter is named Pinki.

My Zinki should now marry your Pinki and this is what it would cause,
If not life partners, we would surely become "in-laws".
